What is it about Fantasy Football that draws you to it?
For me, it's really about the draft. I love the draft party. I have been in a 10 team league with the same fellas for 11 years now. Half live out of town, so I only get to see them anymore at this draft. The shit talking starts early, and so does the downing of cold brews. We draw draft order out of a hat the day of so that's why it pays to do mock drafts at each position several times before draft day if you do the same.
The online drafts are cool as well. I am in six money (2 here at iCon) leagues so far, and plan on doing 4 more prior to the start of the season. My record was 19 in 2010. I fielded all teams each week. I won some and lost others, but I always made sure that I didn't sandbag a matchup.
I approach a draft as prepared as I can be and thinking that I know more than everybody, when in reality, I don't. I go with my gut more often than I should, but it's won me my share of championships. I probably messed up in my last draft here by picking CJ2K over Megatron, but I went with my gut. The thing about it is though, is that it's all a crapshoot in the long run. Just think about it, how many players chosen in drafts past were you still starting at the end of the season? How many of you went into drop/add debt in years past?
How many of you have already picked Trent Richardson and Ryan "Fragile Fred West" Mathews as RB1s in early drafts? I have both on one team. I'll probably get crushed at the start of the season, but it's a long season.
Let me know what draws y'all to Fantasy Football, and how you are you preparing for this year's drafts?
Add Barstools on the iCon Nation if you want to chat Football over a few cold ones.
